Physics Teacher Masterclass – Frontiers in Physics 2026

Wednesday 4th March 2026, 9:30am – 3:30pm

MR3, Allam Medical Building, University of Hull (Arrival & Registration)

This is a one-day CPD event organised by the Department of Physics & Astrophysics at the University of Hull for A level Physics teachers in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and beyond.
Our aim is to support busy A level Physics teachers by bringing them up to the forefront of the subject, empowering them to enthuse their students with the latest developments in the field, cutting-edge applications of different Physics concepts and eye-catching demonstrations that help students grasp tricky concepts better. The event is also an exciting forum for us to build stronger partnerships with schools and colleges in the region through the different outreach activities that we run for students or to co-design bespoke extension activities that support the A level Physics curriculum.Whether you are a new or experienced A level Physics teacher, we look forward to seeing you at Physics Teacher Masterclass – Frontiers in Physics 2026!

Yes, complementary lunch and tea will be provided as part of the event.

How can I find the venue?
Registration is in MR3, Allam Medical Building (building 5 on the campus map). See ‘Travelling to Hull University’ for directions to campus from the city centre.

Travelling to Hull University
The conference will take place on the University of Hull main campus on Cottingham Road, located about 2.5 miles from Hull train station/Paragon bus interchange.
From Hull Station:
Bus: There are several bus services that operate between Hull interchange (part of the Hull Paragon train station) and the University in both directions.Bus number 45 will stop on Cottingham Road directly opposite the main campus entrance.
Bus numbers 104 and 5 will stop on Newland Avenue, several minutes walk from the main campus entrance, asking the driver for a ticket to the university on any of the above services will be understood.
Bus number 4 will stop on Beverly Road, at the intersection of Clough Road and Cottingham Road (you can ask the driver for a ticket to the Lidl on Beverly Road and they will understand where you mean). From here you can reach the University by walking 5-10 minutes along Cottingham Road.Note that these services are operated by East Yorkshire (45, 104) and Stagecoach (4, 5) buses respectively and tickets are not transferable. If you buy a return ticket or day-pass with one service, ensure you travel with the same operator on your return journey to avoid paying for another ticket.

Taxi : About 10 minutes from Hull train station. Below are the telephone numbers for a few taxi services that operate if you would like to arrange your travel in advance. Hull also is within Uber’s coverage if that is your preference.
Hull Cars (82 Taxis): 01482 828282
Veezu: 01482 575757
Wer2 Hull: 01482 770077

Walk : About 50 minutes walk following Beverly Road and turning onto Cottingham Road to reach the main university entrance. The route is fairly flat with no steep inclines.
